Typically we use Gewürztraminer as a component in two of our Rieslings (Riesling and Late Harvest Riesling). As we were blending the 2013 versions of those two wines, we came to really enjoy the Gewürztraminer component all by itself. It was not a hard decision to allocate 100 cases as a special winery-only offering. Kiona is an Indian word that means brown hills. The family owned winery helped pioneer the Washington wine industry when it planted some of the area’s first vines in 1975. Two proud generations of winemaking and viticultural excellence are captured in this outstanding wine.
