2005 Gann Family Cellars Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 375 mL
The Wine Gann Family Cellars Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc is yielded from the Estate Vineyard inside Healdsburg. Our vineyard advantages from morning summer fog which rolls from the Chalk Hill gap plus North along the Russian River Valley. A mixture of cool mornings plus evenings, together with warmer afternoons, enables the grapes to develop their complex flavors plus crisp acidity. The juice was fermented inside French oak barrels using 3 strains of yeast, every adding a different layer of complexity. The wine was aged 7 months sur lie. Growing Season & Harvest The 2005 season began 3 weeks before schedule because unseasonably warm March weather caused an early bud break. Summer was characterized by a very mild plus temperate growing season that enabled for steady maturation. With a record crop, you had 30 tons of excess fruit plus best rain-free fall weather to create this Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc wine. Our selecting crews harvested this fruit on November 30th, 1 day before the season’s initially big rainfall storm arrived. We carefully handselected 6 tons of fruit which had developed botrytis, or “noble rot”, a key component of developing an elegant Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc.
